Forever Lycium Plus
Lycium is used in China since ancient times for its tonic effects on Yin. The extract used today comes from dried ripe fruit.
The most important properties attributed by tradition to the fruit of Lycium are improving vision, including night vision, revitalization of "vital essences" (reproductive and sexual energy) and its effect on the quality of the skin. Lycium was then used for the states of general fatigue, lack of energy, pain in the back and knees, tinnitus, dizziness, diabetes, blurred vision, cough, and sexual dysfunction. The fruit of Lycium contains multiple nutrients in significant quantities, including polysaccharides, amino acids, beta-carotene (and other carotenoids), betaine, scopoletin, vitamins and minerals.
Contemporary research has confirmed several biological properties of the fruit of Lycium: it is antioxidant, immunostimulant, anti-mutagenic, hypoglycemic, and hypotensive hypolémique. These properties confirm the validity of the traditional use of Lycium to slow the aging process.
Recent scientific studies attribute it to interesting properties to counteract the toxic effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. On the skin surface, increasing the synthesis of collagen and the important antiradical action of Lycium support the traditional Lycium beneficial action on the skin quality. It is a "food cosmetic" notorious.
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.), native to Eurasia, is grown in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, where there is a Chinese variety (Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch). The pharmaceutical and food industry uses the root and underground releases of the plant, harvested in the fall. In traditional Chinese medicine, liquorice, which acts on the yang, is mainly used to help eliminate toxins, as a complement in herbal preparations for the treatment of ulcers, as an expectorant, cough, mild laxative in cases of insomnia, malaria, and against aging.
The analytical composition of licorice is very complex. Its main constituents are glycyrrhizin and flavonoids. While glycyrrhizin is removed because of its side effects noticed, licorice extract flavonoids have an antiradical power 100 times greater than that of vitamin E, and therefore would be the most potent antioxidants known to date. In light of the extensive knowledge we have today of the harmful effects of free radicals, also accented by our current living conditions, we understand the interest in licorice extract, high-concentration bio flavonoids and without glycyrrhizin, as is the case with Lycium Plus.
